Who is behind re.academy
Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld of Trier University of Applied Sciences, together with FJW Consulting – endorsed by APRA Europe and Rematec.
Our joint goal is to strengthen remanufacturing as a key element of the circular economy and to develop practical solutions for a more sustainable and climate-friendly industry – by building bridges between research, industry and policy.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Vette-Steinkamp
Trier University of Applied Sciences, Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld · BIT
Heads the research on remanufacturing system technology and industrial robotics at Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld. From 2012 to 2020 he was head of department at ZeMA – Center for Mechatronics and Automation Technology in Saarbrücken and head of the international research cluster Robotix Academy. His work focuses on bringing robotics and automation into industrial production.
Fernand Weiland
FJW Consulting
Thirty years in management at Bendix, Lucas, Magneti Marelli and TRW Automotive. Founded the European division of APRA in 1989 and chaired it for more than twenty years, co-founded the Rematec exhibitions in Amsterdam and edited five books on automotive remanufacturing. Rematec Ambassador Award 2019.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Gerke
Trier University of Applied Sciences, Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld
Professor of robotics and control, Assistant Professeur Associé at the University of Luxembourg. Before his professorship he worked for more than twelve years at Thyssen Engineering, ThyssenKrupp Encoke and Robert Bosch.
